Please assess my Cylinder Wall

Hi! I am new to Nikasil coated cylinders.

 

This cylinder has been cleaned with a scotchbrite and soapy water.

 

The crosshatch is worn and there are 2 pinholes. No gouges/scratches.

 

What do you guys think about it's condition?

Looks ok but can't really tell from my phone. You should really check it with a bore guage, or have local service mechanic do it.

Run a ball home thru it to get rod of the oil build up in the cross hatches. Have someone measure the bore to see if it's out of spec

Good to go.  Yes some people like the ball hone but I am not a fan.  Looks a bit more warn than some but a lot of life remaining.  The pits are of no concern.  Even new or re-plates have a few pits.  You have prepped the cylinder exactly as I would.

 

Are you re-using the piston? or replacing? New rings?  If you are reusing the piston take a look at the second ring land.  They seem to wear some in that location.  The land is not full contact with the ring for the purpose of twisting the ring.

 

Always a good practice to check diameter and taper with a dial bore gage, but if you skip that, I would not worry too much.  Looks good.
