Finding TDC please help

Recommended Posts

How do I find TDC on the compression stroke. I have the fly wheel on and I have can put the cover on to see the marks, but how do I know if its the compression stroke.

I am trying to get the cam chain and cams installed and in time after a complete tear down. I had the cams with the timing marks all lined up with the case and chain. But when I installed the fly wheel and cover I discovered that the TDC mark was off.

So I researched in my tech manual and it stated has to be TDC on compression stroke..... but eludes to how to get it there, and then I assume you set the cams per the markings correct.

When I installed the piston\\. I assumed that I had it all the way up in the head this was TDC. But I guess I was wrong.

Any help....

Compression stroke refers to position of the cams so if you are Tdc then put your cams on and have the marks lined up you are good.

Well assuming you have your timing marks lined up.

Just be sure to have the timing marks lined up before you put the cams on.
