I went for a trial ride last Friday bike ran great, got half way up the last hill my bike stalled,

After that I couldn't get the bike to start again, so ended up rolling back down the bottom and bump starting it on the way down,

I've had the valves checked and there all good, carby was cleaned and tuned on the Thursday before the ride,

Any help on re starting in this situation would be much appreciated!

Hi

Yes bike has the stock cams with manual decompression leaver,

My starting procedure is press down on kick leaver till I get good pressure, slightly pull in de comp leaver and release some pressure from cylinder, bring kick starter back up one click and give it a good kick, when hot and using hot start button always first kick,

This works as it always starts second or third kick, but just wasn't interested last Friday in the bush,

I'm in australia, would a newer exhaust cam make this easier?

How are you releasing some pressure from the cylinder?

When I am releasing the pressure in the cylinder I am slightly pulling in the the decomp leaver and listening for some of the air to release, as well as feeling it through the kickstart leaver

In other words, when the kickstarter lever stops due to compression pressure, you pull in the deompressor lever and then move the kickstarter lever another couple of inches?

OK.

Sounds good.

Was the bike in gear or neutral?

Bike was in neutral, it's a real pig to start in gear,

Have you got any pics of your wr from when you picked it yo in 2012?

Nice pics of the bike and terrain.

Looks like a fun place.

Try letting the kickstart lever come all the way back up to the top before kicking.
