I live in ohio and I want to start riding dual sports but I have very little knowledge about them. Is it one big loop? Will I run out of gas? Is there a place to get gas? I hoping someone could give me a quick jist of what to expect. Thank you guys!

A dual sport is a type of bike thats made to ride on either road or trails. Good bikes for exploring.

I believe you mean dual sport rides.

Anyhow, its all up to the event holder.

Some are two loops that intersect at the parking area. (Which gives you a chance to refuel)

Some are one loop and go through towns. Some don't.

I run a desert tank so I don't run out.

Bike needs to be street legal also.

You can get most information you need from, usdualsport.com.

2014 Ohio dual sport rides.

You'll need headlight, tail light, and license plate mounted on back fender. Most rides won't take you over 50 miles without available fuel. They're lots of fun!

You have a lot of homework to do!

What kind of riding will you do?

Hardcore trails with a little bit of street?

50/50?

Graded or jeep trails?

Commuting and some trails?

What's your level of riding? Years experience?

Research type of dualsport bikes!

Answer HONESTLY and you will have a better time riding.

They are all different. From mostly street and dirt roads to challenging trails. The ride organizer will have a description of the ride. Running out of gas should not be a problem. If it's remote, they usually have a gas stop stocked with gas cans that you provide to them.

If you have paid attention in Ohio, ride twenty miles in any direction you get another town. Gas stations are all over the place.

Even Wayne National Forrest, ride out of the park on each side is a town.

But I would rather ride with oversized tank and not run a chance of running out anywhere.

I can say on my KTM 450 I've ridden 8hrs and only used 3 gallons before.

Its going to depend on the bike you choose.

As said above it all depends on the organizer and length of event. With that, the benefit of a DS bike is you can leave the trail to get gas, skip sections of trail and ride to the trail from home. Where are you in Ohio?
