Ok crf450r

Recommended Posts

Just had stainless valves put in and piston, rings. Seems to be harder to start. I am wondering now that I have new top end, is it to lean could that be why it is hard to start. It has a 172 main jet , does anybody have any ideas. I work away from home and go home on weekends . I am going to try 175 main and see if that helps. Top end was done by a professional group. Any ideas

Main jet has nothing to do with starting

Your carb is probably corroded from sitting with gas in it while the motor work was done

Put in a new PILOT jet, clean and lube the hot start (and check the nut for cracking/leaking) adjust the fuel screw, and start er up.

Did they cut the seats to match the new valves? If not, they might not be seating properly and, therefore, leaking. Or your cam timing is off 1 tooth and/or your valve clearances are too tight.
