Super dumb question (airbox door related)

Recommended Posts

I am updating some cosmetics on my tattered and worn looking bike , and received a large box 'o plastic from an online retailer    -----

I popped the airbox door off with a screwdriver (the white tab that is part of the sidepanel)  --- and now regret touching it   ---

anybody got any tips or tricks on how to get a new one on there and keep it flush?  -- every time i get one of the little tabs popped in, another one pops back out  ----    the factory panel had silicone on the back of all the tabs it appears

I have been down in the garage fiddling with this goofy thing for an hour and just said  "heck with it -- maybe somebody in TT has an answer or an easy tip "

When I change the door, I use a propane torch to heat up a flat blade screwdriver and melt(mash) the tabs. That spreads them out and locks the plastic in place.
