Swingarm pivot bolt

Recommended Posts

Anybody have a picture of their swingarm pivot bolt on the frame side? I took my out to grease everything up and the flat side of the bolt head doesn't seem like its flush with flat spot in the bolt hole if that makes sense. Anybody else have theirs slightly rotated when they put it back in?

It should not rotate. The flat spot on your pivot bolt is designed to fit inside of another flat spot inside the recessed part of your frame. The flat spot inside your frame is located at about the 12-1 o'clock position. KTM designed it that way so the pivot bolt will not rotate when you torque the nut on the other side of the frame. All you need to do is loosen up the nut, and turn your pivot bolt clock wise just a little bit until the two flat spots are aligned, then tap your pivot bolt back in and re-torque the nut. Another easy way to tell if your pivot bolt is not seated properly is to look at the nut on the other side of the pivot bolt. The top of the nut should be pretty close to flush with the end of the pivot bolt after you finish torquing it. If you can see threads on the inside of the nut after you've torque it. the pivot bolt is not seated properly. Hope this helps. Happy trails! JL.
