Replacing a broken shift drum pin

Recommended Posts

I was having problems with shifting on my ttr 230 and I have found that the problem is that one of the 6 pins that are located within the shift drum have been broken off. It seems to be the longer pin in which represent neutral. I was wondering if I could replace this one pin without splitting the case because I really really want that to be a last resort. I have the right side of the bike all opened up so that I can see the pins but I'm not exactly sure how to dismantle that shift drum.

If someone that knows whether I could do this without spitting the case could respond I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you,
