To switch or not? DRZ400sm vs KTM 690 Enduro R

Recommended Posts

I currently have a 2009 DRZ400sm that I love riding but there's someone that wants to get rid of a 2009 KTM 690 Enduro R for 4900$ CAD (and potentially less).  I have a street motorcycle already so I don't technically need an in-between like a supermoto.  Any reason for or against changing?

I have a friend who bought one of the new 500's this last year ... he was telling me that it was between the 500 and 690. He chose the 500 because the 690's have some documented maintenance issues? .... I can't elaborate any further other than I would research a bit deeper.

The 690's are bullet proof. I have a 2008. I have 17,600 miles on the stock piston and valve-train! Try that on a KTM 500.

The KTM will do everything the drz will do but do better offroad as well as on-road. (Yes I have ridden both bikes. The 690 is waaay more versatile. )
