Exhaust and jetting

The JD kit instructions are usually fairly close...

 

For your set up I would use...(under 3,000 ft altitude)

 

160 main jet (open pipe), 155 mj (with insert)

Blue needle, clip 4

Stock 22.5 pilot jet with an extended fuel screw or 25 pilot jet with stock fuel screw..

2.5 to 2.75 turns from fully seated..

People are also saying I might have to drill into the carb? My buddies with drz's never had to do that. What's that about?

This is the only drilling required...Look at 7.40 mark at the video

I don't see a video

 

Like Craigo said the drilling part is at 7:40

 

 

Note that the JD jet kit doesn't come with the drill bit or screw, the guy in the video is using a different jet kit.

the only way you are going to properly adjust your carb after installing new jets and needle is drilling out the brass plug under the carb to get to the stock fuel screw, once the plug is removed you can fine tune, it's easy and maybe a 5 minute job with the right tools. not a hassle in anyway and worth it

Along this thread...I have an 04 400s with the 3x3, FMF exhaust w/ powerbomb and the JD kit installed. I moved from Minnesota to Reno. I know I need to lean it out, but not sure best starting point for 5-10k elevation rides. Suggestions?
