big guy suspension setups

Recommended Posts

I have a 2000 DRZ 400. I have rebuilt the engine and everything about it runs great with 15,000 miles. I currently have the stock suspension. However I think it's about time to change oup the suspension setup to fit me better.

I am 6 foot 5 inches 200 pounds without riding gear. I carry up to 40 pounds of gear.

Open to suggestions for spring rates, valving or even complete swaps. I've heard of swapping to a 96 RM 125 rear shock.

I should also note that I ride 60/40 dirt/street and its my daily in the summer. My drz is an "S".

I bought my springs from Racetech. Have not re-valved and probably won't...rides fine the way it is.

I changed fork oil to 10 w, and bought a heavier rear spring from race tech. I am at 220 plus, and go through speed bumps at speed with ease.
