Washington South Cle Elum Ridge fire

Recommended Posts

There is a fire burning up on South Cle Elum Ridge tonight, in the general area south of Woods and Steel. Tankers have been dropping retardant, so hopefully it will be stopped before we lose any trails.

Update...

Just got back from talking to F.S. at Woods and Steel turnaround: the fire is about 600 acres this morning, and they are hitting it hard with retardant, as well as water by chopper. The ground crews are going in today as well, so it's a fairly high priority fire, due to all the homes along the bottom of ridge. There is a fire at Little Naches too, so there won't be much opportunity to ride around here this weekend...

Drove westbound on I90 at 11-12 today and didn't notice.  But Eastern WA was very windy this morning and I was gald to get up into the Cascades and less wind.

They still don't have a grip on this fire, and we are due for some weather in the next couple of days...the fear now is that it will jump the ridge road and move northwest...toward Woods and Steel :foul:
