fork bushings '84-'85 XR250 KYB 38mm (modified XR 200)

Recommended Posts

(I've posted this on the XR250/400 section and got no replies. Hope it's ok to try this section as well. The bike is a '93 XR 200 with front end (and rear shock) from a '84 / '85 XR 250)

I'm having trouble sourcing bushings for my forks. The forks are '84-'85 XR250. They are KYB 38mm damper rods, which were also used on CR and RM 125 in '81-'82. Honda part numbers for the bushings are 51415KA3004 and 51424KT0781.

I've spent hours on the web and phoning around uk and europe suppliers, with no luck (I'm in the UK). Only tried partzilla in the US so far. Would be grateful for any suggestions where I may be able to buy these bushings.

The dimensions are (approx):

teflon out: i.d. 37.01mm o.d. 38.75mm height 19.70mm

teflon in: i.d. 38.00mm o.d. 42.00mm height 11.91mm

Have you tried David Silver Spares, famous all over the world for obsolete Honda parts?

Thanks Rooney140 ! Racetech weren't on my radar being a US company. I'm actually quite tempted to try the cartridge emulators as well, bit pricey though with the UK import tax on top. I've one more UK vendor to try first, but if he can't supply the bushings, I'll get in contact with Racetech.

tlrmark - I normally use David Silver for old honda parts, but they couldn't get these bushings. Nor CMS in the Netherlands. The bushings did show up on the honda system as being in stock in a small shop in Switzerland, but I don't know any German (or is it Austrian ?) to be able to email them   I hope there will be a way to continue getting parts for older bikes like the XR in the future - they are still so well made, usable and fun to ride, it would be a shame to end up scrapping them because of parts availability.

I actually ended up buying the parts from a very helpful Kawasaki dealer, who checked the dimensions and found the same forks were used on a road bike. The Kawasaki part numbers are:

920931166 wiper seal, 38 x 50

920491180 oil seal, 38 x 50 x 10

440651091 bushing

920281126 bushing
