2009 125 Carb Rehab

Recommended Posts

Just picked up an 09 TTR125 that hasn't been run in a couple years.  The gas in it has that "I don't f'n think so" smell.  :)

Before I waste a bunch of time or break something, what is the best way to get the throttle cables off, so I can clean the carb?  This bike has the dual throttle cable setup.

Also, the choke was seized on the last 125 I had.  I unscrewed the ferrule above the plunger, but the cable won't come off.  The choke plunger moves, but doesn't seem to want to come out of the bore.  It's soaking in WD40 right now...

The last TTR I had, I ended up tossing the carb and going to the VM24.  I'd like to keep this one stock if possible, or is that a losing battle?

Thanks.

Remove the throttle cables from the throttle grip so you have plenty of slack.

Remove the plate covering the throttle cable pulley on the carburetor.
