pit bike timing chain

Recommended Posts

hi I have a 50cc pit bike and a bought a 110cc head and cylinder and piston .. pretty much all I would need to do it , so I was putting every thing on and when I put the cam gear the timing chain seemed to be just short and wouldn't go on .... I took off the cam chain tensioner and was still too short ..... how can I add on a link to the chain or should I even do that idk but if u can please let me know if u have any solutions to help me thanks !

50/70cc cylinders are 63mm tall - 82 link timing chain

90-110cc cylinders are 69mm tall - 84 link timing chain

that 6mm different

Us your piston coming up to the top of the cylinder?

are your studs long enough ?

Yes the studs r too short so I milled the head cover so I can get the nuts on .. And I ended up adding a link to the timing chain .. And it runs good!! ... Thank you for your reply it helped me understand why it didn't work thanks man
