Broken timingchain smc 660 2003

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I first posted this in the streetbike forum, will ask admin to delete the first post.

When i was adjusting my valves i forgot to tighten one of the setnuts to the exhaustvalve adjuster. It came loose and fell down in the cranckcase and ripped the timingchain apart and the engine stopped and was stuck. The chain were on the sprockets on both the cam and the crank, so if im lucky i havent busted my valves.

Will lift off the top later this week and inspect piston and valves.

Replacing the timing chain?? How is it done? Anyone have a DIY on this job, or maybe tell me what i have to do?

Anything else i should check or replace? The bike has run 10.000km

UPDATE:

Valves, piston and top is OK..lucky!!

Found the missing nut in the oilsump, broken in two :)

Everything is OK except from the collar on the balancer shaft..it is bent. So, is it possible to only change the collar, og do i have to buy a complete new balancershaft with collar?
