Rear Axle Sliders, Cotter Pins, etc

Recommended Posts

I'd like to put some rear axle sliders on my 09 DRZ. I read a bit on the cotter pin nut not working with them though and when I looked at my rear axle I see that I don't have the cotter pin so it shouldn't be an issue. Just get some all thread, 2 nylock and some skate wheels.

But I just want to make sure my bike's rear axle is okay, I'm not sure what kind of nut the previous owner has on there and frankly some of the other things he had done to the bike shocked me so I want to make sure it's legit.

Some countries get cotter pins some get friction nuts. Depends on the lawyers.  You are fine as long as you are smart enough to tighten the nut after adjusting the chain.

Slappy , mine are exactly the same as yours , I just still have the factory sliders in . Some guys buy the aftermarket axle blocks which mount the slider behind the axle ( the alloy block is twice as long ) or they use the threaded rod like you said , greg
