Please anyone...

I can't comment on how fixable that is,but at least it looks like it's only external and effecting the exhaust/pipe interface and not the actual bore, but I can't see internally from your picture.  It looks like it would need to be welded and then machined down to allow the pipe to fix, but I know little about welding/machining. I would say unless you know a guy, it might not real cheap. But I don't know.

So, this is how I would approach it; assume worst case scenario is it can't be fixed and you need to buy a new Cylinder. Now look at the cost of the bike plus parts you would need and determine if the finished product is worth the time and money, and how that cost compares to just spending more on a bike without that problem.

Here are two ebay listings for cylinders that fit your bike;

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-OEM-Engine-Motor-Jug-Cap-Cylinder-for-Suzuki-RM80-1986-2001-/281410194723?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A1988%7CModel%3ARM80&hash=item41855acd23&vxp=mtr

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1986-1987-1988-86-87-88-SUZUKI-RM80-RM-80-CYLINDER-JUG-WITH-NEW-PISTON-NICE-/251605166544?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a94d629d0&vxp=mtr

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1987-Suzuki-RM80-Engine-Cylinder-47-50mm-STD-OEM-Standard-Bore-Motor-Jug-/321491891761?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4ada68f631&vxp=mtr

So, the cheapest one is $200. If you bought the bike for $300 and bought a $200 cylinder, you are now at $500 for the bike (not including any other parts needed).

So, does that fit your budget? How does $500 compare to other similar bikes that are running?

I also have a rm80 83 mdl. That needs an airbox, carby, stator and rotor I was hoping to maybe uses them on that bike while I get the 88 mdl engine ready to go. What's your thoughts. I'm hoping these parts fit the 83 mdl....
