Where is the fuel leaking from?

Recommended Posts

I recently purchased a 2003 CR125 and it's awesome, but there seems to be a small fuel leak or overflow of some kind. With the fuel turned off and the bike just sitting on the triangle stand, a very small amount of fuel leaks out of somewhere (I think) from the carb. I've taken a flashlight to it to see if I could find the source, but no such luck. Even turning the fuel off and running the bike till the bowl is almost dry doesn't keep the small about of fuel from coming out. It doesn't seem to be a real problem (yet), but I'm curious to know what could be the cause and if there is any fix that would be worth it. Thanks!

It's most likely from the overflow, or the inlet

Running the bike out of fuel does not empty the float bowl, it just lowers the level

If it's from the overflow, you have a stuck/worn/corroded float needle and cavity

Make sure the plug in the bottom of the float bowl has an oring on it.

Check you carb drain and vent lines to be sure none are kinked. The line upstream from the kink can hold fuel for a long time and let it seep out gradually.
