KTM Shock Shortening

Recommended Posts

Looking to lower my 2010 KTM 300. I have done this before on a Yamaha YZ by tearing the shock apart and installing a limiting spacer. is it the same process for the KTM PDS shock?

If so is there a step by step guide for tering the shock apart and re-assembling?

Also what thickness spacer would be used to shorten the shock one and a half inches?

If it is a totally different method to do this, how do you do it?

Thanks in advance.

On the wp shocks it's much easier to space the seal head inwards to shorten the shock , it's a 1:3 ratio so do you want the back 1.5 inches lower ? If so you want a spacer 12 mm deep

Sorry to be a bit thick, but what do you mean by space the seal head inwards?

Imagine the seal head pushed into the shock body 12mm below the circlip , now make a spacer with a cut out for the shaft to pass through ; like the one on the bottom of a kyb shock

Just looked at a few vids and the bleeding process is a bit more involved than the KYB shock. Thinking of sending it off to someone now. Do you know of anyone in the U.K who does this work cheaply?

Check out slavensracing.com they sell the Ktm spacers on the site if you want to do it yourself. You may need shorter fork springs depending how low you go.
