2004 KTM 65 low spark

Recommended Posts

I bought 2 65's not running for a decent price.... sold the not so nice one (maybe parts bike) for $500 and kept the nicer of the 2....

So here i sit....

It will not start even with ether in the intake.... It popped a few times that was it.... and spark seems really small

So here is what I've checked....

Carb cleaned and float level set....

reeds inspected and look really new

Top End- was told it was brand new- looked in exhaust and piston looks good with no marks but I can turn it over with spinning the flywheel pretty easy

Stator and wiring- stator looks clean and wiring looks intact....

coil looks good and ground looks good....

spark plug cap wasnt clipping on good so I replaced it... plus a new br8ecm (it had a br8eg)

right now I have it all back apart re-checking everything....

not sure if timing is off.... not sure how to set it....

Any ideas?

The ktm 50s are notorious for stator problems, but I don't know if that extends to the 65.  Did it run when you bought it?  Piston in backwards?  The arrow points to the exhaust.  Check the compression with a tester.  Most people dont mess with timing, there should be a mark that lines up on the stator housing to make sure its in the right place.  Make sure the flywheel key is good.
