Edelbrock Quicksilver carb on 2003 Xr650R

Recommended Posts

Looking at buying a nice '03 Xr650R with the Quick silver pumper carb installed. However, seeing as the carb was discontinued and parts are hard to find, what are some other performer/pumper carbs riders are having success with if I need to replace this unit. The bike is currently in CO so change in elevation to where I live is about 4500 ft. I believe I will definately have to address the needle...+ other misc....thanks for your help.

The QS carbs work OK

No accelerator pump, no pilot circuit, so you have to tune the carb with the adjustable needle for either great top end or great throtlte response.

It won't do both.

The real problem is the body. They are made of cheap metal, and actually corrode themselves to death.

The Mikuni TM 40 or a Keihin FCR MX/CR 40/41 works better, but it very hard to fit.

Had a TM40 on my 650r and 680r.  Worked great on both and would definitely suggest going that route.  Not to mention it's common enough that you can get the jetting very close out of the box.
