Wheel bearing replacement

Recommended Posts

Basically I keep my bike in a storage unit and most of my tools are at work so I'm trying to decide if I have the tools to tackle this (front wheel bearing) before going out there and getting started... a couple questions:

1. Is there a retaining ring?

2. What size socket do I need to hammer in the new bearing?

3. any other tips?

I was planning on hammering the old bearings out with a socket, using a punch if needed on the outer race and tapping the new bearings in with a socket.

It's an easy job but be careful to pound the bearing out straight. If it gets too crooked it will ruin the hub

I use a socket extension to pound mine out. You can hammer against the inner race
