2001 cr250r won't idle

Recommended Posts

I have a cr250r and it won't stay running while idling I have to feather the throttle to keep from dying. It does have the mikuni carb I tryed adjusting the idle screw both in and out and it didn't do anything so I adjusted it back where it was at and tryed adjusting the air screw when I screwed it out it didn't make any difference it idled for a sec then died like usual and I screwed it in and it didn't idle at all. It was 2 screws out before I messed with it and its the same now cuz it runs the best tht way but either way it won't idle. Please help...

The stock Mikuni has the idle screw secured with a small bolt. That bolt must be loosened to adjust the idle. The screw does have a very noticeable effect. Release the bolt enough to give the screw a good bit of room, set the idle to what you need. Screw IN to increase idle. Then hold the screw so it will not move and tighten the bolt. Kinda tricky but it does work.  Your air screw should be good at 2 turns out or slightly less.
