I"m Not Sure of My Bike Model.

Recommended Posts

So I'm kind of embarrassed by this but I'm not completely sure of my bikes model.

I bought the bike here in Ontario, Canada and the guy told me it was an 2001 KTM 300 EXC. I've been told by someone else that its in fact an MXC.

Any help guys? Major differences? Also to add my bike has a headlight and a wiring harness, but no rear break switch and break light. Although there is a connection for one. Thanks!

I've attached pictures.

EDIT> Thanks for the help guys! The VIN revealed it's a 2001 KTM 300 EXC**

the tranny is way different..

exc will have big gap between 2nd and 3rd and will top out upwards of 80mph

mxc has VERY tight spacing between 3rd and 4th and prolly wont go 60

mxc had no lights

Did the MXC come with a wiring harness?

I'm almost sure I have a gap in between 2nd and 3rd but I'll double check tonight. When I'm looking for the gap will it be a major speed increase? Thanks

Looks like a exc

When I bought it, the guy said it was an EXC, and so did the last owner on the forum, but I need hard evidence like a major difference in bikes to be sure.

Look at the VIN.  Then try these charts for starters.  the fourth letter of the VIN will designate the model.  E =  EXC  M=MXC

Thanks!! This is exactly what I'm looking for, I'll check right when I get home.
