New Ride: Kawasaki KX 250F 2008 - TO DO LIST ?!

Hi guys!

Finally I got my ride, a 2008 KX 250F.

I was making a to-do list of everything I should check/replace so I can ride it hard without any major concerns.

Im including:

Clean / Relplace if needed

Cleaning and Lubrication

Is all this absolutely necesary? Anything Im missing?

Thanks for your help!

Valve clearances

Leak down test

Grease swing arm pivot and links

Grease wheel bearings

Grease steering stem

Check spokes

Have suspension done for your weight, riding ability

Thanks William.

For oils, is Motul 5100 15/50 good enough?

That oil will be fine.

Your chain slider and guide are finished, replace them with a TM Design as they will last.

Thanks for the adviced! Will do that asap.

Could that be the case of a "chain sound" I hear sometimes when I am in a gear that's too high for my speed?

Normally the chain slaps against the slider on the top of the swingarm which makes a noise and it worse if the chain is very loose or the slider is worn, if the slider is ok then remove it and stick some automotive double sided tape between the slider and swingarm , 2mm tape will work.

Bike looks good.

Definitely do everything you were asking + what William said and you'll be good to go with no worries for a while.

As close to new as I'd imagine you'd get! I bought the bike brand new, I'm older and have taken extremely good care of this bike. Very little use and is COMPLETELY stock - everything is original.
Comes with the title, original book and map couplers for the fuel injection.
      $4700 - cash

Time for a top end on my bike, just wondering if there are any alternative Valve springs i can use. I have PC cams and $400 for just the springs and retainers is alil costly at the moment.
This has been fun in other sections of TT, so I'll start the thread here and see if we can keep it going.
Let us know what kind of mods, fixes, changes, etc.., you performed today, or just general fun you had with, your KX250F.
I'll start with.. I installed a correct for my weight Race Tech shock spring, along with a Pivot Works shock spring thrust bearing. Also cleaned out all the nasty yellow plastic/wax crap that passes for grease in the lower shock bearing, and re-lubed it with Bel Ray waterproof.
