Rear Chain Guidewhen running 54 tooth

Recommended Posts

I thought Id go big on the back and leave the front sprocket as std - only to find the rear chain guide cant be adjusted for the increased diameter. My bike is a 2014 KLR450R - what do you suggest?

First off, where the heck do I get a 54? That is awesome!

I would take the TM designs plastic guide and grind it to fit. I run one with a 53T so you shouldn't have to remove too much.

Thanks WielyWilly - much appreciate the information. The 54 tooth is a Sunstar 5-361954 I purchased it off one of the main suppliers on EBay, I will sort through my "well filed" records and see who

I got it. Thanks!

If I go 13T in front I need a 57T in rear to keep the ratio I enjoy. I will keep my eye out. Some ebay company sells one called Vortex and claims to sell them all sizes all the way up to 62T but seems unlikely to me. The text says they need 5-6 days handling. I wonder if that means they CNC them out of some crap soft aluminum when you order. They are $88. Seems flakey to me.
