People equate dirt bikes to environmental destruction. Always gonna have a negative connotation in the main stream publics eye (those that don't participate in the sport in some fashion). Just a thought ?

In my experience those "people" are often the same ones who then march off and go skiing at some place where they have mowed the mountain of trees, put up lifts, & snowmaking machinery, and all kinds of other environmentally damaging stuff, but that is somehow magically invisible to that "eye". The "eye" is always trained on the other guy's environmental destruction not its own I guess... Human nature? :banghead:

What???? Do you have any idea what the life of a pro golfer is all about, huh? They don't win, they don't get crap!!!! Do you have ANY idea how many miles, how many entry fees, the loneliness, the lessons, the bad food, the equipment, the balls, t's alone cost ten's of dollars a year!!! They get bit by an alligator, whose problem is that? Theirs, that's who.  Sun burn? Too bad, pal. That's YOUR problem. Runny nose, blisters, the drizzling shits? Too bad. Play or starve. We're running a golf tournament, not some charity event. Unless it's a charity event.

 

It's just them and their wrench, trying to get the sticks dialed in, dealing with the course as it is, different EVERY round. Just as soon as they find the damn hole, the ENTIRE point of the game, some jack ass is out there FIRST thing the next morning moving it. Bastards. Changes EVERYTHING they just got going the day before. Sand, totally different than the normal parts of the course.

 

All kidding aside, golf is as close as the existence gets; you're on your own. But, again, like the other sports, there is just so much more money, sponsors, mini tours, jobs as a teaching pro. Hell, top caddies make more than all but the top dirt bike riders. The fan base is similar, people who put out a lot of money and time to participate but, most riders hang it up or, at the very least, participate a LOT less as they age. Golf, we get older, we play MORE, buy more.

 

I'm thinking of finding some Russian oil Oligarch, getting him to invest a billion or so, start 'The Motorcycle Channel' and get on cable or dish and have a 24 hour a day all things cycle product minus stunt stuff. Maybe if there was just more presence, more racing, more tech tips, more behind the scenes, then public interest would grow enough for there to be enough to go around so that some kid who has been riding since he was 5 but can't crack the top 20 can at least make a living at it until he's ready to grow up and get a hate filled existence of sitting in rush hour twice a day, mortgage, wife, kids, soccer, home improvements, second wife, college and all that crap and looking forward to each weekend to play some golf and ponder how he coulda cut another second a lap off had he only worked a little harder and had become a champ.

It is really physical you know!

Exertion, Stamina, Balls and Holes... various equipment can be utilized, Lubes, Techniques. :thinking:   Yep sport!!!

So what you're saying is that if I become a porn star I have to like James Stewart?? Da--uuumn, another sport I have to skip over. What about pingpong, those players don't like Stewart do they??

No you wouldn't have to like him.... Hmmm what if James did porn ?.. hmmm :thinking:  ... Well if he was the fastest that wouldn't be any good ..So he would probably end up face down alot, wait !! thats what happens when he races..

 

He could take PED's!!!!  ?
