07 carb removal

Recommended Posts

as opposed to say a phillips head or flat screw head that can strip with ease?

allen heads dont strip if you use the proper sized wrench.  smartest head that they could put on those bolts for the low torque they need.

only been that way for....well the  yz400f came out in '98.  the 250f follow it in '01

so at least 17 years now not counting the 2smokers before the 4bangers.

Kstout-

You are probably trying to remove the adapter between the head and the carb? If so, don't do that- just leave that adapter on there. You remove the carb by removing the subframe and shock. Yeah, it's a friggen pain and that is why I pull the carb bowl with the carb on the bike.

Let's back up a step. Why are you pulling the carb?

Have you tried an allen bit attached to a 1/4 inch drive ratchet?  They also make "mini ratchets" that are great for tight spots. They usually come as a kit with assorted bits. You can pick up a mini ratchet kit for under $10. You may have to hunt allen bits separately. Try Harbor Freight, Norther Tools, Home Depot.

They also make "finger ratchets" for tight spots.
