Twin Air filter fitment

Recommended Posts

I oiled and installed my new Twin Air air filter tonight. I noticed that the new filter fit quite a bit more tightly on the filter cage and appeared to be smaller in size than my old Twin Air filter. The filter I purchased was labeled for use with YZ125/250/250F/426F/450F. I am concerned about the fitment of the filter at the top of the sealing surface. Pictured below is the new filter in place. The air filter bolt/wingnut is finger tight. The old Twin Air that I replaced did not fit like this new filter. I am using a PC Racing filter seal.

Does anyone here have a Twin Air filter that seals like mine at the top? The bottom and both sides are sealed up fully.

Years ago Twinn Air would advertise that their filters are smaller than OEM to allow for a less turbulent air space in the air box. I used them for years they are a good product. I currently use a Wide Mouth air filter and did notice a very slight performance gain but they are more difficult to clean and oil.
