Cylinder boring.

Recommended Posts

If the plating is still good, deglaze it with a scotch brite pad with light cutting oil and you're good to go. Scrub the cylinder with soapy water and wipe it with a lint free rag until the rag stays clean. Doing that will ensure the cylinder wall is free of any dirt and debris, the cleaner the better.

If the plating has deep scratches or is out of specification, your best bet is to get it replated. You can't just bore it to the next size without replating it.
