XR200R Bent Triple Tree?

Recommended Posts

My son crashed his XR head-on into a KDX200.  They each made contact on the lower left fork.  The KDX survived, but the XR got a very bent left fork.  I bought a nice set of forks off ebay, but when I put them on the forks aren't parallel.  The lower triple tree is either bent or rotated.  My question:  What aligns the triple trees together?  The triple trees look pretty stout, I'd be surprised if it was bent.  Although, by the looks of the forks--and the riders--it was one heckuva crash.

The fork tubes do the aligning.  Did you check the replacement set carefully to make sure they are straight?  These tubes bend very easy.  Also may need to loosen the nut on the top clamp a bit so it can align with the bottom.  If everything checks out you have a bent lower clamp on the steering stem............which happens at times.  When everything is correct, the tubes should slip into the clamps with no binding and the front end should be straight. 👍
