Does 650R CDI Box have the same Flaws as the 650L

 Yesterday my 650R had a cold start tantrum that took 30 minutes to get it fired up. Not that the CDI or even electrical were the problem as it appears fuel related, I just remember a friends L would need a few taps on the CDI box to get it going.  Just curious if this is something to keep in mind with the R model.
