'07 to drill/tap M10 to M12 drain bolt?

Has anyone successfully drilled and tapped the M10 drain bolt to an M12 for an 07 KX250F? In understand that a timesert is the preferred way to fix a stripped drain, but I'd like to avoid spending $90+ for a kit that is only good for a single sized bolt. I have all of the tools and parts needed, I just want to avoid doing any irreparable damage to the case. Thanks.

I have the same problem, but I've decided to strip the engine down and do it properly as I didn't want to run the risk of leaving bits in the bottom f the engine, I thought about tapping it out to an m12 but part of the thread wall has snapped away so I want to make it worse if you bare with me I'll have apart in the morning and will take pics of it from the inside so you can see if you can do it
