Bike not starting without hitting relay

Recommended Posts

All the lights turn on like normal then I hit the start button and nothing happens... and no I don't have the kill switch on. Then I connect the two relay bolts on the side with a metal object and it starts up no problem. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON! and Im supposed to be heading on a trip saturday

If this is the case, then the starter relay is not getting 12v when you press the starter button.

Quick test - take 12v from the battery and energize the relay - if it clicks and energizes the

starter then the problem is "up-stream" of the relay. Could be a host of reasons:

Side stand connection

Clutch lever connection

Neutral connection

broken wire

Turn signal relay (behind the headlight)

Loose connection........

Get a wiring diagram and trace the problem back from the starter relay
