2014 YZ250F wrong fork oil quantity

Recommended Posts

Hi guy's

So I decided to change my fork oil, bike is at 30 hours from new and 250ml of oil came out on each fork.

The manual and MXA says  it should have 330ml.

Has anybody experienced this before? my forks never lost oil from new.

Thanks.

Did you drain the the inner chamber?

Yes I did. You should have around 330ml from the main chamber as far as I'm concerned.

I

I did watch this video, has nothing to do with the stock oil quantity.

Everything was done correctly, I guess they must of put less oil in my bike for some odd reason.

Thanks.

From my experience with forks, it doesn't all just pour out. You still have oil on the spring, upper and lower tubes, and the outside of the inner chamber. I usually have oil all over my hands and a dripping mess to clean up.

Did you pour directly into your measuring device, or use a drain pan and transfer from there? Everything perfectly clean when you disassembled? No dripping wet spring? No oily rags?

We're talking about less than 1/3 of a cup of oil that is "missing."

330ml is what you put in a clean, bone dry fork.

I poured it into a measuring device, and yes I understand not all comes out, but an 80ml difference is quite substantial.

Thanks guy's.

FYI...

Fork oil in beer mug ... global standard for how to measure fork oil, Lol.

KYB technician: "Hai, Arex San, I'll add 0.34 mug of O1M"

Thanks for the pictures! I guess I might have been closer to 330ml after all.

Possibly you were still a little low. I took those more or less to justify my theory.

Also reaffirmed how much I hate working on forks. That oil is nasty.

Measured in the Ratio Rite. Needed something for scale🤣
