1997 XR400R suspension differences

Managed to get both the Aus(pdf) and USA (hard copy) XR400R owners manuals both for 1997.

 

Besides electrical difference based on Aus model haveing turn signals

 ect the suspension adjusting sections were different.

 

Front oil lever

USA 97-130mm

stock 100mm

Aus 87-129 mm

stock 116mm

 

Front rebound damping

USA

at least 12 positions

4 clicks per turn

stock position 5 clicks ccw

Aus

at least 12 positions

6 clicks per turn

stock position 3 clicks ccw

 

Front compression damping

USA

at least 20 positions

4 clicks per turn

stock position 14 clicks ccw

Aus

at least 16 positions

4 clicks per turn

stock position 8 clicks ccw

 

Rear spring length

USA

205.3 to 217.3

1.5 mm or 15.0kg per turn

stock 212.3

Aus

205.3 to 216.3

1.5 mm or 15.0KG per turn

stock 212.3mm

 

Rear rebound damping

USA

at least 16 positions

4 clicks per turn

stock position 4 clicks ccw

Aus

at least 16 positions

4 clicks per turn

stock position 10 clicks ccw

 

Rear compression damping

USA

at least 18 positions

6 clicks per turn

stock position 13 clicks ccw

Aus

at least 18 positions

Are the suspension components different or just the stock settings based on Japan assumed rider weight difference?
