New Stator - higher watts

Has anyone replaced the stock stator with one with higher wattage?  I am looking at a Trail Tech that bumps it up from 30 watts to 70 watts.  I am adding a headlight, taillight and Trail Tech gauge.  Just wondering if more juice would help.

It absolutely will help. I have 2 TrailTech and 1 Baja Designs stator equipped Dual Sport 230s. Both work great. They will allow you to run brighter lighting systems without draining the battery..

*EDIT* Scratch this post, I was looking at my wiring diagram incorrectly!

 

- The engine is running correctly with the Trail Tech stator but I am still working on getting it to charge the battery.

I've been wondering what the output of our OE stator was.

Wow, 30watts, that's not much.

 

I still see lighting kits online that use incandescent or halogen bulbs, 30watt ish.

Are people still using these and not LED?

That's crazy!

Especially on a vehicle which is so power limited.

 

Anybody using heated accessories like grips, gloves, vests or handguard thingys etc. ?

I will be investing in something heated for my hands before attempting to ride next winter, maybe even something for my feet.  Insulation just isn't enough.  I don't suppose there are any new advancements in heating elements for improved efficiency.

Upgraded stator is a must for anybody who rides off-road at night. I'm now running a whole lot of lighting and my battery can stay charged!
