Recommended Posts

friend of mine is looking into selling his 97 cr500.  it is super clean.

he's trying to figure out what to list it for.  what is it worth California prices?  San Fransisco bay area prices.  stock bike, with stock pipe.

Whatever someone is willing to pay.  Clean, unmolested or restored bikes can fetch $2500-3500 on a good day, maybe more depending on how bad someone wants it.  If it's a low hour all original maybe as high as $5k.  Trouble with the CR500 is most guys only want them for the motor so they don't want to pay a lot for a cherry bike, but there are those of us who appreciate the steelie for what it is.

There are a lot of them in Cali. Other parts of the world it might bring 3G or more, cali I doubt it.

I'm in the SF bay area.  It could potentially bring in $3K to the right buyer, but $2,500 would be more of a realistic price to get.  As mentioned most buyers are looking to buy mostly for the motor to do a 500AF conversion.   Below is a 97 for $4K that's been on the local CL for about 4-5 months & the seller hasn't budged on the asking price.

Maybe selling it wasn't his decision. He can't help it if no one buys it. :D
