Looking for people to ride with - Lake Norman

NorthCarolina

Hey everyone,

I recently moved to the lake norman area (charlotte) from CT.  I'm looking for someone(s) to go riding with.  I'd consider myself at an intermediate riding level.  I'm 33 years old and ride a 2001 KX250.

I'd like to hit up brushy mountain some day but would like to meet someone one there.  Riding solo isn't as fun.   Also if there's anything closer, let me know!

I have a private track in Winston at my house...14 acres , don't know if that's too far from you. About a 50 min drive. There are 3 public tracks within 25min of my house as well. I'm a vet B level. Rider. I have equipment to maintain track. Always looking for people to ride with and help out. I'm getting 20 duel axel dump truck loads of soil this week also. Looking for input for track layout as well. Edited by Yamkifour

Mike I ride a dual sport, a big red pig, you would leave me in the dust. But FYI, there is a great place about 1 1/2 hours from you. Check out the Uwharrie ORV trails. Cost $5 a day. The Uwharrie is a national forest. I plan on going up there in a couple of weeks. It just opened on April 1st.

Oh, I am a transplant from NY. :smirk:

Hey Yami,

I don't know much about track layout but it sounds like fun.  My girlfriend works in Winston and commutes there every day (even weekends).   I need her suv to transport the bike so maybe i'll drive her to work one weekend and stop by.

Hey slip,

Thanks for the tip.  The only issue with Uwharrie is they require a spark arrestor.  I would have to buy a new silencer w/ a spark arrestor. I'm a bit reluctant to pay for that with the amount of use the bike's been getting.  If I turned this into a once a month thing, I'd be fine with that investment!

Is that 650 really that slow?  I figured it would be comparable being that it's a large motor.

No, the 650 is not slow, I'm the one that is slow. :smirk: I'm not about to rip it up with the tires I have on it (Shinko 705). Just wouldn't feel safe.

I live in GSO and ride trails instead of MX but wouldn't mind possibly checking it out.  Also have a few buddies who might be interested depending on how much sharing you want to do.

Hey Zero,

Lets hit Brushy sometime my man!
You will enjoy it, lots of good riding. It is a bit steep at $20 a pop but worth it IMO.

I'm cool w/ 20 buck!  I should be around next saturday and sunday if you want to meet up.  Haven't gone riding since last fall!

I plan on going to Brushy Mtn this weekend for the Spring Ride if anyone is in... I'll be there Saturday morning because I'm camping so if anyone wants to meet up come find me. I'll be in a red chevy 1500 with a KTM!

Hah! You and about 20 other people with that description. I usually tell people what truck I'm driving and that I'm NOT riding a KTM as it helps me stick out.

LOL, I know, whatcha mean... I was looking for a Kawasaki in 08 when I got this one cuz I'm a Kawi guy but could;t find one like I wanted for the price. I'll make it a lil easier... I'll be in the camping area if there is room and I have a 94 Chevy (All red). My better half will be hanging out in the camping area and will be the photog for the trip

I'll be there on Sun with a pretty large group. Not sure what vehicle but likely a big dark blue ford pulling a trailer. I ride a red & white Husky.
