Tracks to ride in San Diego, 29 Palms, and Vegas

California

I'm coming over to the states in 2 weeks with work. We'll be over in 29 Palms for around 7 weeks with most weekends off. Can anyone recommend any tracks that are good in the above 3 locations? Also, if anyone has any experience of hiring bikes and gear in the same places it'd be great to hear where's best and what companies people recommend

I've heard good things about Pala near San Diego. It's on an indian reservation with a casino nearby...

Thanks for the suggestion. Is the name just Pala?

29 Palms is not that close to San Diego. Comp Edge would be a lot closer than Pala.

Here's a link. http://raceway.palatribe.com/ It's about an hour from San Diego... It's about 2 hours from twentynine palms.  Comp edge is about 1 hour 50 minutes from 29 palms.

Do a search on youtube for some good video too.

There is also Barona Oaks Mx and 212 land. I haven't been to any of them, but have heard of them...

Thanks Rich. I only mentioned Vegas and San Diego as we have some time off there

Thanks DA. Much appreciated. I've seen SVMA mentioned a few times with regards to Vegas. Looks pretty good to be honest. I'll check out YouTube and see what the other are like

Milestone, Perris, Glen Helen are other options as well as Cahuilla Creek.

A friend of mine who rides and has flown over there early had said Glen Helen looks promising. Are a lot of the tracks out in California watered and kept well-graded or are they just hard pack desert tracks?

They are watered and prepped. You will love them.

Fantastic. Thanks Rich. There's are a few of us who are going to ride over there and we can't wait. The tracks you guys have are huge compared to ours over her. Don't get me wrong, ours are generally 1.6 miles long and have every type of jump, berm, ruts and whoops imaginable but it's the scale and the size of some of the jumps over there that makes it exciting to ride

x2 for cahuilla

All the tracks mentioned are fine, Glen Helen is a classic. But if you can get your hands on a loaner(especially a dual sport) there is great riding in the area around 29 Palms. Aside from the 29 Palms Grand Prix course, there are areas like Old Dale, New Dale, Gold Park, Sunfair/Copper Mountain(good technical singletrack), Giant Rock, New Dixie(more great singletrack), Hondo Wash, and Johnson Valley. Some good local riders too.. stop off at Desert Cycle Works in 29 Palms and talk to Don and his crew...they can line you up with all the local info.

Desert Walker has posted some videos of the riding locally on YouTube. Search "Gangsta Sunfair" or "Joshua Tree to Giant Rock the Long Way".

And dont let anyone tell ya its too hot to ride....

Like mentioned above there are tons of track out here. Pala, Cahuilla, Perris, Starwest (now Lucas oil MX park) Elsinore, Milestone, 212 land, Glenn Helen…...

The prep is great everywhere. Its where all us "spoiled snobs" ride. lol

I've been reading about Barona Oaks Mx. I've never been but I guess it's been around for many years and the very recent reviews are all totally positive. It is located in Ramona Ca. which is pretty close to San Diego...
