ANYONE PULL THE E-STARTER ON THE 300-RR?

Hey glad that idea worked out.  If the magnets are still intact on the inside of the case, save the starter it can be cleaned up and rebuilt cheap with the Honda parts.

I noticed that the Honda brushes are perpendicular to the armature & the Beta ones are paralell. Is there a rebuild kit for the Beta one?

I know this is an old thread but I though I'd share how I fixed the starter on my Beta 2018 XTrainer which has the same starter as the RR.  Four of my starter magnets' glue failed, destroying two of them.  Currently starters are backordered three months due to COVID so I ordered these magnets (NA006-N42SH, order three pairs). They aren't exactly the same shape but close enough to work.  They are MUCH stronger that the OEM magnets, but I don't know if that will make the starter stronger or not.

I removed the old magnets, marking the polarity for each spot as they alternate. Make sure to scratch up the surface for the glue to adhere to. Using a two part five minute epoxy I glued in the replacement magnets matching the positions the OEM magnets.  Put it all back together and it works perfectly!

Nice. Did you pull the engine out or were you able to do it with it in?

I saw this post and ordered the same magnets to repair my old stater that failed. How do you know what polarity the magnets are??? You mentioned they alternated. The magnets are so powerful it's hard to pull them apart or play around with them. Glad I didn't throw the old starter away, now that it can be repaired I'll never need it. Isn't that how things work. lol

Sorry I hadn't seen this earlier.  I just used the magnets themselves to know what the polarity is. Ex: find two where one side repels the same side on another. Then put them in, alternating the polarities putting them in the same spots the originals were in.

How did your repair go?

Just and update on the magnets. The current supplier for replacement magnets are 16 weeks out. Here is another source. You'll need to order 3 of each. Unfortunately 8 is the minimum so you'll have some spares in case you break some.
