DRZ 400s Good First Bike? Highway Sustainable?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I am new to the forum and am looking to purchase my first motorcycle. I will be using this bike to commute to college which is 30 miles round trip everyday, also fun rides on the weekend. I am not looking for a 250 because I want something a bit bigger that can hold up well when driving the freeway everyday. After looking on craigslist most bikes are out of my budget but I found this very clean DRZ 400S and I am wondering if the price is right? Would the bike be able to handle the highway everyday? If it is, would it be a pleasant experience for me? What do you guys think?

Thanks everyone!

Yes, DRZ are fine for what you want.  I would suggest you look at a supermoto conversion as you will be mostly riding pavement and there is nothing better on pavement.  :)

I knew 2 people that have had one, they both liked the bike but hated it on the highway due to the bike being just about topped out. If you're talking 50-60mph highways you should be fine.
