dfurr2fiddy Posted November 3, 2015 Made my new dumbest mechanical mistake today. Started my bike (09 250sxf) without filling the crankcase with oil. I only had it idling for 5-10 seconds before I shut it off. But I did remember to fill the oil filter housing with oil. Wondering if I did any damage? Any input is appreciated, thanks
steve841 Posted November 3, 2015 Presuming you use synth oil, I wouldn't lose too much sleep.

dfurr2fiddy Posted November 3, 2015 (edited) Not a problem.Mind explaining? I'd be guessing it had oil the whole time with the filter housing full? Thanks Edited November 3, 2015 by dfurr2fiddy
steve841 Posted November 3, 2015 Less than 10 seconds of friction won't do much. Oil sticks to the metal. Good oil sticks even better. And think about when you change oil, there's about 5 or more seconds till the system pressurized without oil flow
KRAYNIAL My Rides (5) Posted November 3, 2015 The motor internals were covered in oil.
Mike in Fresno Posted November 10, 2015 the only thing I would worry about is the cam bridge side without the gear, the left side of motor. It has no bearing and is an oil bath for lube and is known to gall if dry...but as said it had oil before so it is probly ok.
