'14 450sx-f oil pump, please help!

I have recently gotten back into riding and purchased a used 450, I went to change the oil for the first time and accidentally opened the oil pump, two plastic pieces and a little metal pin rod fell out, need help getting it back together.

Please help!!!

Make sure that the shaft turns and that the pin sits correctly in the grove of the inner rotor. The pump should spin when you turn the engine. Fit the o-ring seal and the cover. Fill the engine with oil.

Weal, or any new posters,

 

I appreciate the reply, your response is similar to what I was thinking, however I have some more specific questions:

 

The two plastic pieces that fit together, is there a right side or wrong side to put in first? There are very slight differences in the shape of the holes, but it could just by from the molding process?

 

Is there anything that holds the metal dowel in place or is it just the black pieces?

 

If it is installed incorrectly, how would I know? Any specific noise, smell, smoke?
