CR480 Cylinder

Recommended Posts

Disassemble your scoot, keep the piston assembly intact, put on a fresh base gasket, drop the other cyl down on the studs, leave the head off, bring piston tdc, observe it, if it is over the deck height then you may need to do some extra work with a thicker base spacer on said cyl. if it matches up, hook up carb make sure it lines up secure, then check the pipe fitting and routing. if all checks out, u should be ok.

cr-dude gives good advice for checking it out carefully.  I know that the two use the same base gasket so will fit onto the crankcase just fine.  I checked it out with my local dealer many years ago when I was riding an 81 CR450 which also uses the same base gasket.  I wanted to know if a 480 cylinder would fit my bike should a new cylinder ever be needed.  I realize that a 480 head or modifying the 450 head would be necessary due to the difference in bore size.  In your case this should not be necessary.
