Shopping for XR/CRF 100 for wife

Recommended Posts

When you buy one here are a few things to do: Touch the motor and see if it's cold or warm.  If it starts first or second kick cold.  That's good.  A trick for the seller is to warm it up first.  Bring a 8mm t-handel and pull the ignition cover off and see if the case is damaged due to throwing the chain.  (I didn't do that once, and got burned).  Smell and check the oil and check the color.  Check out the air filter to see if they ever cleaned it.  After that check the lebvers for smoothness when you pull the, but XR100's pull super hard and you will have to replace those for your wife anyway. Then just go one appearance and where or not the motor runs and sounds good. (and shifts)

Look thoroughly for cracks in the frame. Mine was broken underneath the seat and in a few other places... big kids like to get on them and see how far they can jump  :smirk:
