Carb adjustment

Recommended Posts

I got a new 2014 ktm 200 xc w. The bike always seems to be bubbly when the throttle is open. Even when it's on the pipe. The spark plug was a little dark, but not soaked. Any help would be great

At what throttle opening is it bubbly?  Different parts of the carburetor have more or less effect depending on the throttle opening.  Here's  a chart showing the relationship between throttle opening and which part has the most effect.  As Throttle5 suggested, the main jet has the most influence at wide open.  If the problem is near full throttle then try a smaller main jet.  If the problem is between about 1/3 and 2/3, OR if the problem happens immediately after riding between 1/3 and 2/3 but clears up after having the throttle wide open for a bit, then the try dropping the needle one position.  If the problem is under about 1/3 throttle then try adjusting the air screw or the pilot jet size.
