Are you a Thumper?

not sure I understand the question?

I believe he is defining "thumper" as riding at very low RPMs (35 mph in 6th gear is his example) and therefore low torque. Or, by implication, riding at higher RPMs and thus more torque.

The only times I MIGHT be anywhere near 35 mph in 6th gear is when I'm essentially "coasting" down a long hill on the street in a 35-40mph zone, or lazily coasting up to a stop sign/light from higher speeds, although 99% of the time I've already downshifted to 5th or 4th by then.

A thumper is a four stroke, lugging a bike is when you ride a gear or two high.

I ride a thumper.....I lug it sometimes when I accidently knock the fire off my cigarette and I slow way down to find out if I'm sitting on the fire or not and forget that I haven't downshifted yet.... ?
