What it really does is damp the activity of pressure waves to cause the engine to "see" the header as having a variable or undefined length. True, but consider the basic dilemma faced by the manufacturer who needs to build a pipe for a wide range of potential applications and motor configurations while at the same time somehow not make things worse for any of them. It just cost more. thats a good way to look at it add contending with noise restrictions and usfs but at the same time... they are pretty far off. a jemco literally makes a boatload more power.
